Book
Store
Unity Church of Cedar Hill has
discontinued its bookstore and lending library except for the Daily Word
and gift items because of being in a temporary location.
SALE
of all remaining books on our last Sundays: July 25, August 1 and August 8. Everything left
will be taken to Half-Price books or to other Unity churches wanting them. No offer will be refused!
Our bookstore
manager is Lynne Witten. She still brings selected books to church on Sunday, or you
can request a book that is in storage.
See information on Ellen
Debenport's new book - The Five Principles. We recently discussed it in our study
group and found it wonderful!

| Fund Raiser
How many of you shop at Tom Thumb and have a reward card?
You can help the church with fund raising by telling the store where you shop that you want
to link your card to Unity Church of SW Dallas.
You have to give the account number. Ours is
4839. Every time you shop with your reward card our church gets 1% of the total shopping bill donated to us. We have been receiving a
small check quarterly (About $38.00) so we have already been signed up.
Someone is already using the card to help us. I intend to link up and so should you. It doesn't cost a dime, but would be a great way to benefit the
church. To find out more visit this website:
http://www.tomthumb.com/ifl/grocery/Good-Neighbor
When you go to this link there is a place to print out an application, put
your reward card number on there and our account number. Then just turn it
in at the store.
Some of the other chains have similar programs; ask your favorite store! |

Church
History
The
Unity Church of Cedar Hill was founded in the spring of 1986 when a
newly-ordained Unity minister, Rev. Ben Andrews, was appointed to lead a
Unity study group in the Duncanville area, a suburb of Dallas, Texas.
Initially, it consisted of fewer than ten people, and was officially
organized as the Unity Church of Christianity of Southwest Dallas. The
group met in a hotel room on Camp Wisdom Road, and soon outgrew those
quarters. After moving to a larger leased facility on Center Street, the
group continued to prosper until it was necessary to find a few
facility.
In
1990, an existing church building in Ovilla, ten miles further south,
was available and became the church's new home. In the fall of 1991, the
church split into two groups, the larger of which joined its founding
minister in relocating to the Holiday Inn in DeSoto, Texas. It continued
to meet regularly there until September of 1995, when it moved into its
current location in a larger, more permanent, leased property on Kenya
Street in Cedar Hill.
After Rev. Andrews retired, visiting speakers from the Unity Church of
Dallas and Unity Church of Arlington conducted Sunday services. In May
2002, Ben Sturgeon was selected as the Spiritual Leader of the church
and served through November 2007. After Ben moved back to West Texas, we had guest speakers
every Sunday until one of them, Janet Ellis, took on the spiritual leader position in 2009. At
the present time we are in a temporary space, and will close our doors on August 8th, 2010. Guest speakers have been invited to speak
at the services when Janet is not speaking. Visitors are
cordially welcomed and invited to become a part of the dynamic, loving fellowship that
characterizes this spiritual family.
