 Unity
Church of Cedar Hill continues to offer classes for adults on
Sunday mornings from 9:30 - 10:45 AM in our meeting room at Hanging Gardens. All
are welcome whether you have read the assigned chapters or not.
The study group will not
meet on Easter Sunday - April 4th or on June 20th.
Present study book:
Loving What Is by Byron Katie
Starting March
14, we will
discuss Loving What Is by Byron Katie and "do the work" on our
thoughts. This class will have guided participation in this process as well as discussion.
We have done this book before, but are doing it again by popular request.
Discussion questions will be available on Sunday Feb 21 and 28 and March 7 or by e-mail at any
time. Class begins March 14 and runs 10 weeks – through May 23 – 9:30 to 10:45. Please buy the book and pick up study questions at least one week before class begins and do the first week’s assignment prior to the first class. IMPORTANT: Attendance at classes 1-3 are essential to get started off using the process correctly.
Byron Katie, in her book
Loving What Is says that our problems are caused by our uninvestigated thinking. But only all of our problems. She says that what we perceive in our lives as problems are not actually the problem. It is what we think about these situations, events, people and beliefs that is the problem. In Unity we state, “Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm – that is in our world – has its beginning in thought.” So how do we change our thinking and create peace for ourselves?
Byron Katie shares her process for examining our thinking and includes lots of examples that can help us do “the work” on our own thinking. This class is for those who want to experience this process by working on themselves. We will not only read and discuss this book; be prepared for written homework putting into practice Katie’s method. It works and is life-changing!
Starting
May 30 we will discuss Entering the Castle by Caroline Myss. Based on the writings of St.
Teresa of Avila, it is about achieving higher consciousness through mystical practices.
Discussion questions will be available on Sunday May 16 and 23 or by e-mail. Please
obtain your book locally or online and read the
first assignment previous to the first class. This class will run 10 weeks - through
August 8.

Debenport has a live weekly program on Mondays at 1 pm. Unity.FM
has also broadcast a series of interviews with Eckhart Tolle and Dr. Larry Dossey. Last fall,
Unity.FM presented Jesus and the Awakening to God Consciousness with Deepak
Chopra interviewed by Rev.
Wendy Craig Purcell. The six-week webinar is based on the book The
Third Jesus and was completed the week before Thanksgiving. The series
is now available for sale on DVDs. Our study group watched it in August. All
programs and interviews have archives you can access if you can't listen to them when they
are broadcast live.

In this series, Rev Ed drew on many belief systems to define the powerful energy of this sacred season - and the ways in which we can incorporate it into our own lives.
In
January, RevEd spoke about De-Stressing for the Changing Times. This topic
is based on the booklet by that name by Doc Childre of HeartMath Institute. The booklet can be read

February/March,
RevEd talked about "Waking Up, Working Through, Moving Higher: An Emergency Tool Kit for our Spiritual Journey."
The premise is: We have all the tools we need to dissolve challenges and create new joy and prosperity in our lives. We just need to claim them -- and learn how to use them!
In this series Rev Ed focused on the Sermon on the Mount, the Twelve Steps, A Course in Miracles and other tools
- discussing what each tool offers and how best to use it.
Group work also helped focus our attention on using the tools and supporting the members. In
April, RevEd talked about The Course in Miracles; he has shared the roots of
the Course, a comparison to Unity theology and universal principles that can help change our

us attended Edwene Gaines' seminar at UCCH on Saturday morning,
